What a Bike means to a Biker!

Friend this is a beautiful write up that my friend Rachit (KZM) had written in one of the threads on the famous biker's website www.xbhp.com

What a Bike Means to a Biker!

Consolidating with the machine to feel it, thats so true.. U & I still remember the time, when our bikes conked off due to some pain, in middle of no-where & we spoke nervously virtually with the machine, pleaded it to get running & yeah it has done that, utilized the last breathe, came back to life for a while & has taken us to the source of help; till its breathe lasted..
This is a wonderful instance to realize it does "feel",..

Care for the machine & it will never let u down.. Speak with the machine, it will respond u back by an expression on the road.... They can feel us & we do feel them., Theres a connection a biker & a bike shares, which no-one can interpret.. Make this connection more strong.. The only difference between our expression & the machines, is the language, which is nothing but a distinct way to express having the same purpose...
I still remember the time, years back when i was a no-vice & got my beautiful companion with two wheels.. When I panicked on road, in middle of traffic where I stood as a prey, having difficult times to control it.. But my bike stood by my side without expressing a clue of irritation, telling me.. "Its fine, do it again". Always felt proud when I be with her.. Was in a real pain when I saw my bikes state after the crash, had sleepless night till I saw her in a proper shape.. We both looked each other in pain when we saw each other wounds.. Smiled at each other, when again started zooming & breathing on the highway..

Makes me wonder, why do I feel so much for her, why it pains when I see her having trouble, why do I always try to defend some limitation if she has than of the rivals.. Why.?
I know here on this part of the world which is xBHP, all of us do feel the same way.. No one can take any words against the machine we own, cause it has always stood by us. Seen with us, our life, bad & good times.. Saw me falling, the best time of my life I had with my better half, heard when we faught, stood in the sun in parking out of my office waiting for me for long hours..... Done so much for us, how we can call it a "Non-Living Bike". Its more than that.. a Living Machine which can breathe & react..

This is a mere example & evidence of we having a strong Bonding between Us & Our Machine. Hence from the above, one fact can be concluded is "Yes, they are watching us, they are feeling us.. They do LIVE, Love them & Get Loved"

I was really touched the way he expressed his feeling for his bike and felt that many of them were true. It Lited some of my feelings for my bike which i ignore or felt was not important!

Here is what I had to write....

Nicely written RACHIT and VIVIAN.......

And tell you what, you have expressed your feelings wonderfully .... Its been just 16 Months that i got Dolly (My Unicorn Sporty) and till now she has given me loads of memories which i can never forget through life time.

One of which is having the Love of my Life sitting behind and we spent wonderful time together OR the day when my Friends daughter was seriously i'll and we were searching from some medicines in the dark streets of Mumbai OR when i gave my Board Exams and couldnt think of going by train during the rush hours ..... my DOLLY was always there!!!

As i am writing all this, there are many feelings currently running into my heart and mind....... but unfortunately I am not that good writer to put them into words here with all the same emotions as RACHIT and VIVIAN has done.....

Now thinking that I am Biker! It Gives me almost the same Proud feeling that a Soldier must be feeling after winning a war for his country.

(I know i the statement that i made above is controversial but I dont have any other feeling of Proudness in which could explain the same)

Friends, by sharing this blog, all that I am attempting is to answer few questions

'Why Biking?' OR 'Why Risking Life?' OR ' Why Biking is a part of my Life now?!" OR "What makes be so passionate about Biking" and most importantly 'What my Dolly means to me....'

Frankly if you are still not convinced then I guess you will be never!

Thanks again for reading :)

Date: 14-15-16 Aug '09

After my last trip to Pune, it was time for an other biking trip this time a very long one! My office colleague in Aver who is a passionate rider himself and have being to Mumbai - Ladakh and back on his Karizma. It was his invitation and idea to go to Goa for biking and being a biker how could I say NO?!
The ideal dates to execute this planning was to choose a Public holiday sticking to the weekends. And it was 15th August the immediate nearby holiday, it was Saturday. Some of us have holidays on Sat-Sun & some didnt. So we took leaves on Friday & others on Fri-Sat.

2-3 days Before: Obviously I was very much excited for this trip and started to prepare for it a good 2-3 Days back. I had to Lie to Mom as if discussed, she would have never let me go for such a long distance on my bike so i thought it is better i wont let my mom know about it( I lied that I am going by Bus and the bike is parked at my friend- Niraj's place) Was really feeling bad about it but had to do so as it would have been impossible then to go for this trip. Made all the necessary arrangements which were required for this ride.

The Night Before : I lied to Mom that we are catching bus from Kanjurmarg(where Rachit Stays) so she suggested that I should stay over night at Rachit's Place instead of going early in the morning in the train. I had to agree as even we all 4 can start the journey together. So left my house a night before, and just as I left my House touched the feet of my MOM and she looked at me strangely ;) I had to fuel up and also had to explain Neeraj(One of my Best Friend) about the Lie as for Mom my bike was parked at Neeraj's Place for 3 Days. So met Neeraj and few other friends there then by 10.30pm left them to reach at Rachit's place by 12.15am. Could hardly had a sleep that night as I and Rachit talked talked and talked all night. Just a one hour nap and was up by 4.30am.

14th August 2009: The decided time to meet up was 5.30am on Friday at the regular place where Rachit and his gang meets. We all were there on time and just as I could make out from everi1's face that their Mind was just prearing the body for the longest life in everyone's life. We all knew that covering almost 600 kms in a days time would never be a peace of cake. We expected to touch GOA by 7.00-7.30 pm in the evening on the same day.

Now it was time for the Coconut Breaking Ceremony (Yes we do that too...Every Ride). Then Rachit being the most Senior rider among us explained about the formation, some disciplines, few dos & donts on the ride. And the coconut breaking ceremony was done for the good luck & now we where all set to fire our machines & hit the roads. It was decided that Nitin(Avenger) will lead us and Rachit (KZM) will be at 4th position till Panvel and from there on they(Rachit and Nitin) will swap positions and we (Ajay and Myself) will the same position i.e. 2nd and 3rd Respectively. We were flagged off by another guy Abhishek(Rachit's Friend) and we were off.

The route was NH17 all the way from Mumbai to Goa. We were zooming on 70-80 and withing no time reached Panvel and it started raining and so we decided to take our first halt. Ans just as the rain lessened we were off again. After a sailing ride to Pune on NH4, I had already presumed that the NH17 also would be some what same, but this time it was worst not the condition of the road but that the road was just one lane Up and Down and there was NO DIVIDER(Yes that's true) separating them. It was just the white strip indicating that this was the center of the road. I was really challenging as i had no experience of riding on such roads.

Just as we would have covered another 50-60kms it started raining again! And hence the second stop. Getting restless for around 20minutes & felt like it was just wastage of time. We had a brief discussion and then decided that we will have to ride in such heavy rains also or else our plan of reaching GOA by evening will not be possible. So off we were again maintaing the same formation with Rachit(KZM) leading us. It was raining heavly and the road was wet and so were we but we had to continue no matter of the heavy showers. Nothing could stop a biker..!!! :) All of us where totally wet, riding speed had reduced to somewhere between 60-70kmph. The heavy rains and the forest on both side of the road made the climate simply splendiferous.

Rachit(KZM) & Ajay(Unicorn) were leading a bit ahead on the 1st and the 2nd position and Me & Nitin(Avenger) where together coming little slow on 3rd and 4th. The curvy road started as we were just about 4-5 Kms away from Raigadh Junction. The left the rain behind and the speed had increased to 80+ now. I was very much riding in my lane when i saw a huge Truck coming from the opposite side which would have been more than 5oo to 600 meters away. In front of the truck was a local rick which the Truck was over taking for which the truck obviously had to come in our lane . The truck was still at some distance and I was waiting either the truck to overtake the rick or to pull over so that i can leave. But to my surprise the Truck covered my lane and just as i realize that the truck wont pull over i had to hit my DISK Breaks and in order to avoid a head on collusion with the truck I had to throw myself to the left of the road. Yes It was a Fall!!!( I must have been at-least on 70 when this happened) and I was down! For a next 10 seconds it was difficult for me to understand what happened!!! I was dragged atleast 7-8 meters on the road and had take the fall on right keen. For a moment i thought my right leg was Out and just did not move! Few locals rushed and helped me up.....the right keen was severely hurt. The first thing i saw after getting up was the damage to my bike. It fall was really a bad one. Just as Nitin arrived he and the other locals got the bike up. I was still in the pain and agony as I thought the right knee was fractured(But locals said it was not) even the right hand and hip was paining but above all the right knee. The other side the damage to bike- Front indicator was hanging, mirror was loose, front dome was broken & hanging & scratches. More than then the pain I was frustrated that my bike was severely damaged. My friend Nitin explained me that it was not the Bike but myself which was more important. With all this happening behind Rachit(KZM) and Ajay(Unicorn) were way ahead of us. I sat for around 10 min as the pain in the right leg reduced(By the time Nitin was trying to call the other two but could not connect to them). Nitin insisted on taking a bit more rest but I was determent to start again. I was down but not out! thankfully was up again and started. Now that i had a fall the confidence level had gone down. The right side was paining a lot but I knew i was not left out with any Option..... (When you dont have option you do amazing things)

Another 5-6 Kms away and Rachit and Ajay were waiting for us. Nitin was really furious on others as they left us behind. He bawled out on them like anything. I tried handling the situation and things calmed down. They were all worried about my safety more because of the fact that I lied at home. A Relly Spray on the knee and we were off again. While all this happened we lost on time. We were off again this time Nitin was leading us. I was very low on confidence and the memories of the fall was flashing into the mind. Moreover i thought of how the fall could have been worst. As we continued the level of confidence increased and things got chilled, his spirit was back high & we continued the journey ahead.

Withing another 45 minutes, we soon passed by Mahad, Poladpur & then came much awaited Kashedi Ghat. This ghat is claimed to have the most curvy road and here is the place where the ST Drivers(Maharashtra Transport) are taught driving. We stopped at the start of the ghat and just as i looked ahead the ghat looked really scary!! The other 3 made sure that i was all prepared for the ghat . Rachit requested Us that he will go ahead & enjoy this twisties & again wait for us after the ghat ends to take back his tailing position.

At the start of the Kashedi Ghat
We agreed and we started again . This time I was really very careful of things and was slow on speed.

The view from mid way of the Kashedi Ghat

The curvey road ahead on the Kashedi Ghat

Just as i reached the top of the ghat and looked at the road ahead!!! it was really amazing!! i never ever have seen such a ghat with steep slops in my lifetime. I could literally see the road all the way down with the snaky twist and curves. We then we passed by Khed, Asgani. The roads where amazingly in good condition but only problem was no divider, so always had to overtake all the time which was little risky & couldn't maintain high speeds. We must have covered more than 350 Kms. By now confidence was all back and then for the first time,I burned out the gas a bit more lead the formation!!! With straight roads ahead i zoomed up and touch 115 for the first time on my bike for which obviously I felt GREAT. Then I slowed down a bit to allow Ajay to lead us . We were all together with good distance between each other.

I was now in the 2nd position, i was so happy to touch 115 that i thought i would share with my other fellow Wing Rider i.e. Mr Ajay(Unicorn) I over took Ajay again and then slowed down to allow Ajay to come on my right side. Here is the whole conversation.....
Me: 115 Touch kiya
Ajay: Kya?!! (could not here may be because of the tight helmet)
Me(Shouting): 115 Touch kiya
(By this time i completly ignored the way ahead)
Ajay(Opening his helmet glass): Kya!!??
Me: Abbe Bhai....115 touch kiya for the first time :)
Ajay: Wah!! Chal abhi 120 touch karna hai!!!
(Not an eye on the road)
Me: Nahi yaar nahi hoga......Engine slow hai (and just as i looked ahead) F****!!!!

I was off the road and had a skid yes AGAIN!!! , Yes the 2nd Fall I must be on 60-70 in this Fall! :) The fall was again to the left side of the road and to my right. Thanks to the almighty that it was all grass with not much stones. Again the right knee took a bad hit which was already in pain!. Rachit rushed towards me and helped me Up. Back on my feet i looked back to my bike and realized that there was not much damage this time. We all laughed it out. I was in a bit of pain but could not show it in front of them because i knew that they will be worried. And this was also a reason for others to take a butt-break.

Me trying to maintain a smile after the fall
Place were the 2nd fall happened

My Damaged Bike and Nitin relaxing in the background

With over 20 Minutes of break just as I sat on my bike to start the journey again realized that the 'T' (Handel) was bent!. I the first sentence that came out of my mouth after that was 'I cant Ride I cant continue !!'. And all the smiles from the faces disappeared! Now we all were worried on how should we go ahead with it. I was very much upset with think of my overall performance in the tour. I really could feel that guilt from inside because it was just because of me that the experience was bad!! Really bad. And that i was spoiling all the fun. :(

We discussed a bit and then thought of giving my bike to some mechanic on the way & continuing the journey with me being a pillion on any one of us. We were in between nowhere so i had no option but to take my bike to the nearest mechanic . So I had to adjust my biking position and continue. For another 8-9 Kms I was very much carefull and did not cross 45-50 and within this 8-9 kms there was a lot happening in the mind. The guilt of performing badly in the ride so far and that I was unnecessary spoiling the mood of the other 3. But more than anything the disappointment of not completing the tour on my bike. Keeping a close watch on the road ahead with the bent handle, I was thinking of all this. I literally was talking to myself and asking to myself

'Isn't it a Shame, that you will be a Pillion and that could not complete the ride on your bike???' 'Is this for what you lied your MOM for?'
' After returning back in Mumbai what will you say to your friends that you were a pillion!!!!?' 'Even if on slow speed cant you in anyway reach Goa and get the bike repaired there???'

And it was then when I decided that I will continue riding with the damaged bike. I knew i was taking a great risk and that I should not be run in all these emotions and take a wroung decision. But being a biker I had to take this arduous decision. Quite frankly it was difficult to judge with a bent Handel and also that the fall has really subsided my confidence. I had made up my mind that 'I will' , with some extra caution for the 350-375 Kms ahead.

Just as I decided this, I saw my fellow riders waiting for me at a junction so as to search for a garage. I stopped and said 'Jarurat Nahi Hai, chalega aise hi! Manage karlunga mei' and the other were like 'What!!!! Are you sure!!!????' and I had to convince them that i am ready to take this risk. I am glad that they respected my decision (Thank you guys!) So we continued it was already 4 pm and there was more 350-375kms to go and we were all hungry. We thought we will ride non stop for 100kms (Which we could not the whole day less because of the rains and more because of my falls) and then stop for the lunch. I also informed that you all can go ahead and i will be catching up as the maximum speed that I thought I could touch was 60-65. So we started again.

By this time it was not only our mind but the body also started jading. By this time were sure that we are not reaching there before 8pm. But now we were more worried about covering 250kms and reach GOA then about the time.

So we continued ......We rode for a decent distance for next two hours & thought of taking a lunch break. It was Rajapur where we reached now & had some food. After finishing the food we didnt had to take any big breaks now, we did a serious riding further & covered lot of distance with just minor breaks. We passed by Nandgaon, Kankavali & lastly reached Sawantvadi. It had already turned dark by the time we reached sawantvadi. Nitin(Avenger) was totally exhausted! We three were in a better condition there.
The roads where very narrow & we had to overtake the huge trucks, buses & cars light which the b*****ds choose to always keep high beam. It was darn difficult for us, nothing was visible at all, we where just riding along with the white belt in centre of the road. By this time Rachit(KZM) and Ajay(Unicorn) were way ahead and Nitin being with me (Thanks a lot Man!!). After a while struggling from the narrow patches & having head to head collision with the insects, we all met, everybody got little relaxed with the journey so far & took a butt break for a while. Ajay fueled up & we left to our Final Destination.. Goaaa...!!
It was another 50-60 kms perhaps from sawantvadi. As we left sawantvadi, the roads where getting bad, as usual the heavy high beamers where flashing in our eyes to add on to the fun there where twisties & pitch darkness. Again Rachit and Ajay went zooming ahead and Nitin was with me. I knew i was in great risk as because of the bent handle, my head lights was totally on the right side of the road when I rode straight. So I could see absolutely nothing in the front. I left it all on luck and was literally chanting God's Name in my Mind. I knew i was just there.....and in the next 1 hour we reached GOA!!!(It was almost 9.00pm)

I was there in GOA last year and knew that Calangute was a good place to be and also that one of my friend had some linkups using which we could get cheap rooms there. So I suggested the other 3 the same. All agreed on it, as no much options where seen in front. Reached Calangute & went to some Aunty's place. She rents out couple of rooms around. We negotiated on a room for Four Guys at the price of mere Rs. 400 & as we were staying for two nights it will be just Rs. 800, which was a best deal for us & beyong our expectations. All were badly tired but equally excited for a reason of achievement now, of coming to Goa from our houses back in Mumbai on our own bikes. Its a feeling of satisfaction. I remembered that I dreamt of coming to GOA and renting a bike and roaming around in GOA with friends but never did i thought I will ever come on my own bike here. BUT THERE I WAS!!!

The place were we stayed

Everybody got freshed, changed & we went out to fill our stomach it was already 11.30pm now. Rachit was dieng to have a beer. The other two Nitin and Ajay had Shravan. We decided to go in a nearby Restaurant & have something.

@ the restaurant and rachit all tiered but still posing!

My heart was filled with THE GUILT and it was now that I said a wholeheartedly 'SORRY' the other three for my poor performance during the day. Strangely they laughed it out and said that this is a part of a Bikers Life! and all this is learning process. :) In fact they started sharing there stories of their biking trips and there first falls which reduced the quilt a lot. They also said that the only reason they were worried because I had lie at home and all this happen.

After fulling up our tummies, we where now zombies.. & all we needed was a Bed. We all dozed off as there never tomorrow.

Next day was our relaxing day & we had to see places around Goa. It was saturday & all of managed to got up early as expected, not sooner than 11am :) It was a lazy morning for us as all where recovering from the journey fever.

Massaging Ajay

We where getting ready & our steeds where already ready, glowing & waiting to roar around GOA

By the time everybody succeeded in looking good it was 12am when we left. Just while having our breakfast in the afternoon ;) we discussed on repairing my bike. We all thought that it is better if i could continue with my bike tilll Mumbai so that the repairs are done by a specialist as we doubted that the mechanics in GOA were that skillful as the one in Mumbai. By this time i already made more than 350 Kms with the bent Handel and was more confident. So we decided that will keep the bike in the same condition. We then went to the Clangute beach Just as we were entering the beach there where lot of small shops which selled nice stuff. Rachit to took batteries for his camera & the camera was back to life. Nitin also brought his Sony Cam was already loaded & ready for click-click..!
Here are some initial snaps in GOA

The beach was just superb & the sea was deadly. Yes it was really wild & extremely dangerous. One puts his just feet inside on the shore, the sea pulls it significantly inside.

Beautiful Calungute Beach

The life-savers & the cops where petrolling around the shore & announcing nobody should go in the water. The people who didnt listened, they where literally pulling them out & throwing them. This was very essential, it may look not so worst but has a potential to cost your life. So we roamed around the beach.

And by the time they were patrolling, we were still posing

Yes they really do.. ;)

While the other enjoying the beach view

Hero of India's Baywatch Series

With high sprits of being to GOA the other three decided to get the tatoo done on there arms so that they could show them off!!!

Then we headed towards Fort Aguada. Its a wonderful fort, though none of us went inside, just took some snaps from out.. We where damn tired. For the proof of we where there, here are few pix.. :)

Dont know what is Rachit trying to show us with this pose...

The Light House

The Wing Riders.....Me and Ajay

Feeling like GOD....Nitin!

The God between the Wings!

Then we went to a place where Dolphin Ride happens. We saw a beautiful River Bed & some boats parked there. So thought of waiting & also inquiring about the Dolphin ride. On asking they said, its closed due to Rains, we where little disappointed. But to cheer us up was the wonderful river which was the best place for our mission "Posergiri" ;)
Hence pix follows...

Beautiful!!! Isnt it?
Just as we reached

Yes the Calender will be out soon ;)

Then we reached another beach near Taj.. Dont remember its name.. Didnt spent much time as we had to go further at Mapusa market which was almost 15 kms away for some shopping.

And we started again!!!

Back on our Machines!

And then we headed towards the Mapusa Market, where we can get some cashew nuts, wines, etc.

Beautiful road to main market!

In the market searching for a decent shop!

@ the shop purchasing cashew-nuts , Wine and some Goan specialty!
While returning back to the room.

My Dolly!
Our Machines!
We managed to purchase some cashew nuts & wines. We wanted to buy lot of stuff for our family & friends, but we being on bikes, we cannot carry too many things. it was almost the end of the day as the sky was dark now. But for us it was not :) reached back to the room and decided that we will celebrate tonight. I also made up my mind that i will have 1 or 2 pegs ( No i dont drink this was the 3 time in my life time). We knew that if we go to a hotel for dinner we wont be able to discuss things there as there the main focus would only be on eating. I informed the other three that above the room there is good place where we can have dinner in peace away from the crowed hotel. All agreed as I and Ajay went out to get the dinner, some soft drinks(for Ajay and Nitin) and Hard drinks (For myself and Rachit) .

Just a proof that we got the Dinner
The climate was all set Dim Light, Soft music, cold breeze blowing across the table and the drinks. W and sat on the table & started with a Toast to our journey & wishing for many such 'KMs' on our 'Road' of Journey ahead.

The Pegs very ready and so were the Lips!

Cheers to the spirit of Biking!!

Now we had a satisfaction of a huge ride we did and that we roamed in GOA on our bikes.

DAM!! after two pegs the world was all shaking for me :) :) :) ;) ;) ;)

Here the place were we stayed...and the place above!

Me after two pegs!

And just as we were about to finish the dinner one of rachit's friends informed that few of other riders (xBHPian) from mumbai were also in GOA! Rachit was excited to know that even my xBHP friends are in Goa. He quickly called Gopi (His friend who went along with Rachit to Ladakh) & to our suprise they where lying down at Bagha Beach which is just 5 min. away from where we stayed. We decided to go & meet them. We then wrapped up our small celebration and headed to Bagha Beach at almost mid-night 12am. I was in no condition to ride as the World for me was still not stable so decided to be a pillion behind Rachit.

Here are few pics of the meet.

It was after meeting that it came to our knowledge that NH4 would have been better option as it 4 lane road with a big divider separating them . The total distance & kms could have increased by 180kms as we had to go via Belgam, but due to express highways the distance can be covered faster, safer & stress-free. It was a good news for us as that is what we wanted. But the xBHPians also informed that the road to Belgam which was 180 kms was in bad condition. We still decided to take the route as we knew once we reach belgam it was smooth sailing then. Hence we decided of giving a try by returning back via NH4.

We left from there back to our room for a short sleep, so that next day can get up early & leave for the return journey back home. Just as we were leaving, some one with his Sand-Art created Indian's Map with Mud.

The Map...

....and here's My Salute!

All woke up quite early the next day & got ready.addled up the bags, cleaned the Helmet visors, Geared Up.. & where all set to Burn the Roads...!!

On inquiring about our route via NH4, we had to go till SawantVadi the same way & then take a turn towards Belgaum (Karnataka). The roads where just beautiful, early morning fresh breeze passing by your body, breathing the freshest air one could get. Could easily feel the enjoyment our steeds where having while going on high speed.
We took a small halt for a while for a nature calls break & some nature clicks.

The road that we left behind!
Place where we were above the clouds! (That's Ajay)
...and Me.
This guy is waving as if he is off to America....
Beautiful.....
Wow!

Nitin was exhausted, his stomach was not treating him well. He was feeling dehydrated & consuming water continiously. Then we took a direct halt at SawantVadi for breakfast & also for Nitin. He took medicine for curing stomachache & had something. He didnt felt perfectly fine but OK enough to ride.
We took a right from Sawantvadi for amboli and as the Amboli Ghat started, the climate was getting amazingly chilled. The roads were the same 2 lanes with no divider but were shaded with trees on both the sides, total peace, birds humming sound, roads via forest climbing up, waterfall sound.. Vow..!! The feeling was delightful.
As for the most of the time during the ride Rachit and Ajay zoomed ahead followed at a distance by myself and then Nitin (This guy always was with me).

As expected on the ghat, it was raining and the road were all wet. Climbing the ghat i was extra cautious and was only 30-40 shifting the gears again and again. Nitin's health was a problem and hence I while climbing the ghat I was keeping a watch in the Side Glass to see if Nitin was following smoothly. Twisting and shifting gears, the curvy road were really difficult. I was on 40 when i saw a almost 350 curve ahead which was very steep. I slowed down and had a glance in the Side Glass for Nitin, very slowly took the turn with the bent handel just as i successfully completed my turn I looked back into the Side Glass to check for Nitin , exhilarating the same time and it was this time that my judgment of the bent handel went wroung. I looking behind and when i looked ahead realised that i was about to go off road on the left side(Must be on 40 then) Panicking to the situation i immediately hit my Disk Break and Dhishoom down I was!!! YES THE 3RD Fall!!!!!!! and once again falling to the Right side . This time taking the impact more on the Hip and Right hand(were i was already hurt). I got up immediately and just before Nitin could stop his bike I asked him not to stop but to continue. And I self lifted the bike and just as I sat on the Bike, I realized that the hit to the Hip was severe. It pained like anything!!! I tried touching my hip but could not...as the pain was excruciating. This time i knew i could not show anything in front of the other three as they would then never invite me for any other ride. So gulped down the pain and was up and riding again. The confidence again going to the minimum level.

I some how made to the top of the ghat. The climate by then was really at its best. We where riding through fog & could see the 'Cloud Bed' around us. On the right side it was the rocky mountain and on the left it was a deep deep valley which thank god was not visible because of the Fog around. The road was such a beauty that the steepness was almost close to zero but the curves were never ending. It felt as if somebody has glued the road to mountain as you could feel that road was literally hanging to the mountain. After riding in such for a while , we spotted AJAY and Rachit halting near by a small water fall. They were surprised to know that I had 3rd fall. By now they were quite acquintant with my falls :) I remember Rachit saying 'Itna First Aid toh mei Ladahk janeke time bhi nai wapra tha' and we all laughed it out. I was in much pain but never made the other guys realized about it. We go the camera out and got some good pix here's some of them.

The small waterfall!

The foggy and curvy Ghat.

look at the fog... can you see anything ahead?!

Adorable waterfall

We spent a quality time here & left to reach Belgaum. I was now left alone behind as the other three zoomed ahead. The ghat came to an end and both the roads as well as my confidence was good enough to zoom steadily on 60-65. Another 5o-60kms riding alone I saw the other three riders stopping with Nitin lying down on the side of the road. I immediately looked at his bike hoping f or the best , but thank God his bike did not show any unfortunate incident. Instantly the second thought was that Nitin's heath must have worsen as he was not well right from the morning. Just as i pulled over and stoped, rachit informed me that Nitin got a hit on his handle from right hand side by a bull who was crossing the road, which was extremely unfortunate. Nitin was shouting in pain as his right hand was paining like anything. Just as this happend i thought that the tour was really taking a toll on us, as most unfortunate events was happening with us. It was all emotional now. Rachit again pulled out his First Aid box and applied IODEX on his middle finger . Just as i was massaging his fingure I was also shout 'Bas yaar Nitin 500km aur, and we are back home' . I helped him up and he was still shouting in pain. I was shouting ' Come on Guys, lets do it!!! bas thoda aur yaar.....and we will make it' 'Thoda aur sehlo yaar thoda aur, we'll have to do it Come ON!' . By saying all this I was trying to bring back the spirit up which I guess was required as that time. Nitin then some how managed to get his Gloves on.

His Middle Finger...could not use it now for the next few days! lol... ;)

It was already 11.30am and we did not cover even 180 kms. We were loosing on both Time . Just as I was applying as well as Energy. We were more frustrated that due to many reasons we could not touch 100kms without stopping right from when we left Mumbai. We all new we had to make up for the time lost. We all started again.

This time all the emotions were running into my mind, there was more 500kms to cover and back we are back home. It was because of these emotional thoughts that made me less fearful. We now started touching speeds upto 70-75 with the bent handel. Soon after covering more 40-50 kms we entered Belgam and just as broad roads with divider started I felt that i have not seen such road from ages. Inside my mind it felt so good to ride on those roads. By taking a left in Belgam we were now on NH4 which was a SIX Lane road with a divider which was as big as 2 extra lanes!!!! we all were happy , and showed our happiness by riding around each other. We then zoomed to three digits no on the speed-o-meter! :) The road was a complete bliss for us, no potholes just a stretch.. It was a road for US. We where zooming on a speed of 90-95, not stressing the engine too much.
We took a first break on the NH4 at belgaum, as all where darn hungry. After resting for an hour, we started aagain.

Our Machines!

Yes...where God dines..... ;)

The awaiting road ahead.....
....and the road we bequeathed.

In all our minds we knew this was the time when we could make the '100km run without stop' possible. We all zoomed again and the speed of 85-90 maintained constantly. I was still a bit careful as was riding with a damaged bike. We then stopped at 103kms from where we started! for which we all were happy. After a small butt break, we started again to cover another 114kms

& and then another 130kms.

Further nothing much we rode back through Belgaum, passed Kolhapur, Karad, Satara and Pune
Then directly halted at Lonavala. By the time we reached there , it was all dark.
Excited to reach home.

We were glad that we changed our route from NH17 to NH4 and also to the fact that we covered the distance in the best time possible.

It was now more 100kms to go to reach Mumbai and the Lonavala Ghat in between. Hence rode slowly sticking to each other for the next 50-60 kms. Everybody had a bad body ache, but the feeling of complete this mamooth journey was incredible & healing on the pain. It was already 8.30pm till we reached Vashi and now we were all joyful to the thought the the journey was very much over. We now were expressing our joy by zooming round each other and competing each other on speed!!! ;)

I could not take the damaged bike directly home as to Mom's knowledge I was coming by bus. I knew I will have to leave the others quickly as had to park my damaged bike at my friend Neeraj's place so that I could take the bike to the garage the next morning. As for the bruises, thought I would say that I had a fall from a 'RENTED Bike' in GOA ;)

After saying bye to the other bikers Rachit(KZM) Nitin(Avenger) and (Unicorn) from Airoli and headed straight to neeraj's place. Wile in traffic also called up my other best friend Hemant at neeraj's place.

Finally reaching neeraj's place, I started explaining my friend Hemant and Neeraj about the experience of bike. Then were sad to know about my falls and to see my bike so damaged. There was still severe amount of pain on my right knee(1st and 2nd Fall), Hip(3rd Fall) and Right hand(1st, 2nd and 3rd Fall). After leavng from GOA it was the first time that i removed my Jacket(which was borrowed from Rachit) to see that my right hand had a long and fairly deep scratch and was swollen double the actual size . After seeing that my friends were amazed to still see me smiling which obviously was over powered by my joy and experience of the ride. Then setting a perfect example on friendship, at about 12 in the midnight Hemant used up his First Aid Kit of his bike as both helped me dress the wound so that i could hide the wound from my MOM. (Thanks a lot guys) And while they were doing that I was busy explaining them the experience of biking and how we covered 1301 on Two wheels :)

Hemant then dropped me home on his KZM, with a little discussion with my mom at home i went off to sleep. The other day got up early and took the bike from Neeraj's place and sent it straight to a local garage.
